About the role

The role of Analyst Rates Validation will be to provide support in assisting with the daily validation of Revaluation Rates within the Rates Validation (RV) team.  The RV team performs the core validation function across a wide range of instruments such as bonds, commodities, futures, swaps, FX, Interest Rate Options and many other derivatives that are traded within the bank.  It will be your remit to ensure a robust rates and revaluation framework is established for all Markets traded products and the bank’s balance sheet within Treasury. You will be required to validate market data by running key daily processes, preparing month end rate validation reports, undertaking statistical analysis, develop and maintain worksheets used to support daily rates validation processes. In addition there are further challenges once a certain level of experience is attained by participation in the change management process with regard to new rates/curves involving analysis, submission of papers for relevant approvals and co-ordination with the business and technology right through to implementation.  Linking in to projects and co-ordinating delivery of rates to assist in meeting deadlines will also be required as part of this role.

Given the importance of the daily processes, the successful applicant must be self-motivated and able to perform 'business as usual' tasks in a timely and accurate manner whilst also engaging with new material and furthering their own understanding of financial services

Skills and experience

To succeed in this role, you must be able to work in a fast-paced, at times ambiguous and complex environment and have:

  • Understanding of Financial Markets and Products.
  • Demonstrated understanding of market data systems/providers.
  • Sound skills using Excel and exposure to more advanced Excel functionality and VBA would be ideal.
  • Ability to quickly comprehend new concepts and convey these to others.
  • Able to diligently and accurately deliver to a daily cycle as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written coupled with the ability to liaise with a range of stakeholders confidently.
  • Industry experience in Products & Markets, Business Banking or a variety of other fields may be applicable.
  • Tertiary qualification, preferable with a finance, statistics and/or mathematics related disciplines.
  • Additional qualifications such as CFA, etc would be highly regarded.
