Our Compliance and Conduct team supports clients to manage regulatory challenges, review effectiveness of their risk and compliance frameworks, and provide clients with deep insights and advise on industry and regulatory best practices.  Our team includes a number of financial advice specialists who work with clients to review and improve the quality of their financial advice, and their ability to comply with their obligations as an AFS licensee.

We are looking for a highly talented financial advice professional to join our successful and rapidly growing team.  You will be responsible for delivering high quality compliance advisory services to a variety of AFS licensees, including many of Australia’s largest advice businesses.  Whilst strong industry compliance experience will be viewed favourably, you may be an advisor, associate or experienced paraplanner with a passion for enhancing the quality of advice across the industry who is seeking a new challenge.

 

Your Opportunity

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting reviews of the quality of financial advice provided by clients, including as a team leader, with a focus on meeting the best interests duty and related obligations.
  • Compliance framework reviews for AFS licensees, focusing on framework design and effectiveness, monitoring and supervision activities.
  • Working with clients to solve complex challenges associated with regulatory change, compliance management practices and regulator engagement.   
  • Contributing to scoping, execution and delivery on a variety of compliance reviews, remediation programs, and compliance advisory projects.
  • Developing strong relationships with clients, maintaining these relationships after engagement completion and assisting in the achievement of Compliance and Conduct’s business development strategy.
  • Interpreting and assisting clients in the application of regulatory obligations, industry standards and best practice principles including ASIC guidance.

With an enthusiasm to deliver quality in everything you do, you are commercially minded, detail focused and interested in solving complex problems in a fast-paced environment. You will have:

  • A developed understanding and practical experience of all aspects of the financial advice industry.
  • A strong awareness of the industry landscape in both a pre and post FOFA environment.
  • A sound knowledge of a broad range of financial products, including investment, superannuation, platform, and personal insurance.
  • Knowledge and practical experience in the application of regulatory requirements within the financial advice industry, in particular with regard to the quality of financial advice.
  • Advantageous, but by no means essential is experience in designing, implementing and/or carrying out compliance management practices including:
  • Regulatory change management including interpretation of regulatory obligations;
  • Controls management and testing;
  • Compliance monitoring and/or supervision activities;
  • Regulator management and liaison.
  • Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
  • The ability to analyse information quickly and efficiently, drawing on your experience and using creative solutions to solve problems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills that enable you to successfully engage with a variety of internal and external stakeholders and develop meaningful relationships to complete deliverables and aid in business development.
  • Experience with financial advice software systems will be viewed favourably.
  • Tertiary qualification(s), preferably business or finance related
  • Industry qualifications (completed or in progress) such as ADFP or CFP, will be viewed favourably
