Detail information about job Senior Accountant - charitable trusts. Terms and conditions vacancy

  • Accountant with finance sector experience
  • Philanthropic and indigenous trusts
  • Client focused, Team leadership

Our client has annual revenues exceeding $1bn and operates in all States of Australia.

The company provides an innovative range of staff benefits which reflects a refreshing flexibility in employees' work-life balance options.  Flexible work hours, public holiday exchange and a broad range of discounts are simply the start.

The company is seeking to appoint a Perth or Adelaide based Senior Accountant to take hands-on and Supervisory responsibility in the Trust Services division.

The company's Trust clients can be significant in nature and include:

  • Indigenous assistance trusts
  • Philanthropic trusts
  • Trusts created through bequeaths
  • Academically focused trusts
  • Health and well-being directed trusts

The appointee will assume a leading role in the operation of the State based Trust Services Division and client relationship management.  The reporting line will be directly to the State Manager.

The role of Trust Supervisor (Senior Accountant) presents a diversity of challenge which fundamentally falls into four functional areas:

  1. Data integrity of Trust accounts through accurate accounting, processing and compliance
  2. Relationship development and guidance to external Trust beneficiaries and Trustees
  3. Leadership of a small and focused Trust team
  4. Client service excellence

A comprehensive background in trust accounting is not required.  What is required is a good understanding of accounting principles and a stable work history which reflects this.  Your background and qualifications may include:

  • Public practice accounting
  • CPA or Chartered Accountant
  • Financial services ParaPlanner
  • Corporate accounting with a bias to client service
  • RG146 or Diploma of Financial Services

Equally important to the role will be your inter-personal manner and style.  Trust beneficiaries, and to an extent Trustees, are often unfamiliar with their responsibilities, rights and obligations.  The Trust Supervisor and his/her supporting team have a mandate to assist and advise these clients.  The satisfaction in playing a key role in assisting Beneficiaries improve their lives, health, education, etc. is considerable.

You may be at a point in your career where you have concluded that preparation of the next tax return or set of financials is not an invigorating and uplifting experience for you.

You may be feeling that you will gain more satisfaction from assisting Beneficiaries and Trustees improve lives, well-being and education.  If these are genuine aspirations and you have the inter-personal skills to support them then we encourage you to take the step.
