Client Details
Our client a leading organisation in the renewable energy sector is seeking a senior legal counsel to join their in-house team in Sydney. Reporting into the General Counsel the role will be providing legal support to the finance team and various business units with an emphasis on regulatory, risk and compliance related advice.
Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Assisting administer a compliance program to meet regulatory, contractual, organisational and other compliance obligations of the organisation
- Reviewing and assisting with the ongoing development of the internal policy framework
- Providing advice to the business on Australian Financial Services License (AFSL) and Managed Investment Scheme regulatory and licensing requirements
- Keeping the business abreast of compliance risks and regulatory changes
- Supporting the legal team on the documentation relating to the development of renewable energy facilities, acquisition and divestiture opportunities
- Reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements including; confidentiality agreements and engagement letters
- Supporting the general counsel and legal team on ad hoc projects and duties as required
Profile
Key Requirements:
- Ideally 6-10years PQE gained from a well regarded law firm or in-house environment
- Previous experience with AFSL and registered managed investment scheme obligations
- Strong knowledge of the Australian regulatory environment
- Experience across a range of commercial agreements with an understanding of the energy market products and derivatives being viewed favourably
- The ability to manage a variety of projects with competing deadlines
- Excellent communication and relationship building skills
