About the Role:
Through its Financial Services business, which encompasses large corporate superannuation fund and wealth solutions businesses in Australia and New Zealand, Mercer manages the administration of over a million individual superannuation accounts. The Financial Advice team’s role within that business is to help superannuation members and Private Clients create and protect lasting wealth for a secure retirement.
 
Mercer's Financial Advice team in Sydney is currently seeking an experienced Strategic Financial Adviser with a proven track record in securing and on boarding new clients. You will leverage Mercer’s corporate relations and your own external relationships to provide tailored advice to a range of private clients and superannuation members.
 
You will be supported by a team of Paraplanners and Financial Advice Assistants whilst also having access to our highly regarded global Investment Consulting team and investment research.
 
In this role you will be responsible for:
  • Growing the ongoing private client base by implementing business development and market strategies that attract new clients who want an ongoing service relationship
  • Retention of a portfolio of private clients through meeting service level commitments
  • Generation of additional revenue by identifying new advice opportunities within the existing client portfolio
  • Sourcing and converting opportunities for insurance advice, lending and estate planning business
  • Contributing to team projects to improve business results
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess:
  • Minimum 5 years financial advice experience
  • Ideally CFP and Financial Planning qualifications (plus degree in Business related discipline preferred)
  • Practical experience working with Self-Managed Superannuation Funds and Wrap Accounts
  • A broad understanding of financial planning strategies with strong superannuation, and tax knowledge
  • Solid investment management experience and a thorough understand of investment market principles 
  • Exceptional communication and relationship management skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and within a team environment to achieve results
