About the business
QTC's Client Advisory Division is focused on ensuring essential community services are financially sustainable, by providing strategic financial advice to Queensland's Government Departments, Local Governments and Government Businesses.
The Government Businesses team advises Queensland's Government-owned businesses operating in the energy, water and transport sectors, as well as the responsible Shareholding Minister Departments (Queensland Treasury, Department of Natural Resources, Mines and Energy, and Department of Transport and Main Roads). These businesses play an important role in the delivery of Government's fiscal, economic and social policy objectives. We help our clients manage the financial, commercial, strategic and risk issues that arise in delivering these policy objectives.
About the role
We are currently seeking an Associate with five or more years' experience in finance, economics or advisory role focussing on regulated businesses in the energy, water or transport sectors. This individual will play an important role in ensuring Government-owned regulated businesses are efficient, effective and ready to adapt to changes in their industries driven by emerging technologies, changing customer expectations and policy reforms.
In this role you will work within a team to assist in the delivery of priority projects for our Department and Government-owned business clients in areas including financial performance, funding, structuring, business cases and strategic responses to emerging issues. An important part of the position involves building and managing relationships with key partners across Government to identify opportunities to support our clients.
About you:
You will be a motivated and passionate corporate finance professional with experience advising regulated businesses within energy, transport and water industries. You will demonstrate your strong relationship management, problem solving and project management skills and understanding of how commercial enterprises deliver value for shareholders and other partners to deliver outcomes. It would also be advantageous to have an understanding of energy, water, transport sectors, economic regulation, microeconomic policy, or the operation of government-owned enterprises.
You will be degree qualified in finance, economics, business, accounting relevant discipline and you will have a minimum of 5 + years' experience working within finance, consulting, relevant industry, or relevant government role.
