Organisational Context
TEM, in partnership with an iconic Australian corporation, has developed a carbon offset program for businesses which provides an integrated sustainability offering centred on carbon offsetting for the corporation’s major customers.
This innovative program involves:
- Carbon offset procurement, sale and reporting - buying and selling financial instruments.
- Reporting of global carbon offset projects utilised to offset business emissions.
- Assisting in conducting due diligence on trading instruments.
- Providing carbon market insights from interaction with market participants.
- Collaboration on a broader program of sustainability initiatives with our team.
- Preparing and reporting financial results and performance.
The Dealer Assistant plays an important role in the efficient and smooth day-to-day running of the dealing desk. The Dealer Assistant will be based in our Mornington office. The role is flexible in both working hours and start / finishing times for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
Primary
- Working under the direction of the Directors to execute carbon trades with our established counterparties
- Maintaining strong lines of communication with our sales teams on products being priced
- Keeping our trading systems up to date with agreed trades and forecasts for anticipated future trades
- Post transaction management and confirmation of transactions
- Ensure that trading obligations are met on time, to standard and in accordance with contractual requirements
- Manage ongoing contracts including working closely with the Execute Assistant for payment;
- Maintaining registers and records for AFSL compliance including KYC information
- Build and maintain strong professional relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
- Client service- answering counterparty phone calls and emails. Preparing trading group cashflow and financial performance reports on a monthly basis and as requested by the Directors
Secondary
- Represent the client at key fora to promote the business partnership
- Act as a brand ambassador by modelling the client’s values in every interaction with colleagues, clients and the general public
- Support and collaborate with colleagues on the further development of the business partnership
- Comply with all legislative and company guidelines, processes and policies
- Assist in the development and implementation of business plans and strategies
- Brainstorm new sales opportunities and products
- Collaborate with colleagues to support and lead major promotional campaigns as required
Selection Criteria
We are seeking an optimistic, confident and well-organised individual who is passionate about their work and enjoys working within a team as well as autonomously to achieve common objectives. You bring with you:
- Tertiary qualifications, preferably in finance
- RG146 favourable but not mandatory
- Experience in equities, banking or insurance (front-office, middle-office or back-office)
- Excellent Microsoft Excel skills along with the aptitude to learn new systems (e.g. Bloomberg)
- Ability to prepare financial reports and budgets
- Above average written and verbal communication skills
- Corporate presentation
- Client service focus and good attention to detail
- Excellent time management skills
This opportunity will suit a person that has previously worked in the stockbroking, banking and/or insurance industries who wants to maintain their exposure to the markets in a part time role.
Qualifications, Education & Training Requirements
- Tertiary qualifications in business, environment or relevant fields
Desirable Criteria
- Experience within the sustainability industry or working on a sustainable product
- Understanding of carbon offsetting
