What’s this role about? 

Data Driven Decisions are critical for NAB to achieve its vision of backing the bold who move Australia forward. It’s critical for NAB to ensure data quality, integrity, availability and confidentiality to support business make effective data driven decisions. The role is critical in providing data control design services across the enterprise supporting the execution of risk management accountabilities, business improvement and change opportunities specific to controls design effectiveness. The activities performed by the Senior Consultant are directed and agreed with the GM/Head of Data, Analytics and Automation. You will be responsible for the comprehensive risk and obligations analysis, control identification, gap analysis, control design and documentation of the existing and new data controls throughout the data life cycle.

This role presents an excellent opportunity for you to partner with senior level stakeholders in the business while developing an in depth strategic and day-to-day operational knowledge of how data is used in the business decision making. In addition to this, you will work within a high performing, diverse and highly supportive team environment that is collaborative and promotes knowledge sharing.

Some of your key responsibilities include:

• Assess business/data requirements, risks, regulatory obligations and business service level agreements
• Understand Critical Data Elements (CDEs) and Data Lineages to assess data control environment.
• Undertake gap analysis and provide recommended actions  to address control deficiencies identified
• Assess design of “as is” Controls in mitigating risks, meeting regulatory obligations and business requirements.
• Design and participate in Design Effectiveness assessments and support the implementations of controls.
• Develop and improve Data Controls Framework in consultation with Enterprise Data

Skills and Experience

• Proven in-depth understanding of data CDEs, lineages, measurements and controls
• IT and data systems literacy with knowledge of data structures, system controls and data models
• Significant Assurance, Risk management or compliance experience in a large banking organisation or accounting firm
• Experience in building Data Control Frameworks
• A detailed understanding of regulatory developments and requirements  including  CPG235, BCBS 239, EU-GDPR, etc.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage, build relationships and influence stakeholders at senior levels
• Capable of thinking and acting independently to understand complex business environment and advice on data control design
