Senior IT Internal Auditor - Data Assurance

Expectations for the Senior IT Internal Auditor are:

  • To conduct IT and integrated audits and provide IT audit expertise to the Internal Audit team.
  • Implement the data analytics strategy by performing data analysis, analytics and visualisations within audits.
  • Adept in performing all phases of audits, including planning, fieldwork, preparing and presenting audit results and recommendations to management.  Acts as a business partner to the auditee.
  • Proficient in providing objective assurance and consulting services as well as evaluating and identifying potential improvements in the risk management, control and governance processes.
  • Demonstrated track record in displaying initiative and independent working style, strong business knowledge of financial service industry and technical expertise.
  • Interact effectively with management and build/maintain ongoing business relationships utilising strong interpersonal/ communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects, while meeting deadlines with minimal supervision.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Audit Assignments

  • Execute planned audits, assess business area under review, including key business & technology risks and General IT control environment.
  • Oversee all aspects of audit engagements (e.g. planning, risk assessment and scoping, fieldwork, reporting and follow up), ensuring compliance with mandated Allianz Australia Internal Audit Policy and Charter, procedures and International Standards of Internal Auditing.
  • Proactively follow up audit recommendations to ensure they are implemented adequately by the auditee, so that the findings can be closed in a timely manner.
  • Prepare high quality, value adding, internal audit reports and present findings to management and Chief Audit Executive.
  • Establish sound, strong business relationships while maintaining the independence required from being in the 'third line of defence'.
  • Support the update of audit methods and promote best practice sharing.
  • In performance of all work, exercise due professional care and diligence and ensure compliance with local and Allianz Group standards and Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) internal audit standards and Code of Ethics.
  • Participate in special engagements, as requested by the business or other stakeholders, ensuring objectives (as determined by the requesting party) are met on a timely basis and value is provided, without impairing audit independence.

Relationship Management

  • Take responsibility for the relationship with the auditees and become a recognized expert and partner to the business.
  • Manage communication with stakeholders.
  • Interact with external auditors in specific cases.
  • Collaborate on departmental and inter-organisational projects and assess the acceptance of audited departments.
  • Increase knowledge across different business lines and bring added value to the business.

Data Analytics

  • Support the development and implement the data analytics functionality within the internal audit team.
  • Support uplift of data analytics capability and knowledge of team members.
  • Within audits perform data analysis, analytics and visualisation of finding.

KEY REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 5 years professional experience in conducting integrated IT audits within the financial services industry.
  • Several years' experience in finance related function, insurance business, asset management, IT, risk management etc.
  • Business know how within other functions, regions and entities of Allianz Group.
  • Strong intellectual and analytical skills and a very good understanding of processes, structures and the regulatory environment.
  • Experience in auditing application general controls (e.g. change management, system development, backup and recovery, interfaces, data processing and access administration) and infrastructure (e.g. Windows OS, database and networks).
  • Relevant expertise in Cyber Risk.
  • Knowledge of data analysis and data manipulation tools and languages (SQL, SAS, ACL)
  • In-depth knowledge of investment products and services.
  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or Information Systems.
  • Experience with Data Analysis using data mining tools and CAATs.
  • Conceptual leader and thinker.
  • Demonstrated successes as a fast learner with the ability to quickly assess a situation.
  • Ability to generate new insights and ideas.
  • CISA/CISM required.
  • The following certifications would be advantageous - "CGEIT", "Prince2 or other project management certification"
  • Excellent communication skills are essential, as well as the talent to empathize for the auditee's perspective and ability to listen.
  • Ability to deal with all types of personalities and experience in managing escalation processes after delivering inconvenient decisions.  
  • Team spirit, self-motivation and a proactive and committed working style, as well as ability to interact in a global work environment with people from different countries and cultures.
  • Proven command of the English language (verbal and written).
