Overview
This is an exciting career opportunity for a risk management professional with a strong operational background in mining, minerals processing or with “Big Four” experience to join one of the world’s largest goldmining companies at our premier mine site in Lihir (PNG). In this newly created role, you’ll advise managers on critical control measures to manage material risk and conduct compliance audits. This will include ensuring a robust governance process, including accurate and transparent reporting to site leadership team.
You will be responsible for:
- Providing advice, guidance and coaching to site personnel in relation to the Newcrest process for the management of site material and other risks.
- Assist operational departments in maintaining data in the IT solution for material risk management.
- Coordinate and participate in activities for operational departments to review the effectiveness of risk controls.
- Facilitate risk assessments for business, safety and project related risks.
- Engage with operational teams to provide support and guidance on risk processes and the practical application of risk management for the company.
- Assist in the preparation of reports to inform management decision-making and for regulatory purposes.
This is a FIFO role working a 15/13 Roster.

About You
To succeed in this role, you will be safety focused, team oriented and enjoy continuous improvement and driving for results. You will have experience in operational compliance, audits or management systems, and looking to develop into a more specialist role. You will require excellent analytical and report writing skills, with the ability to identify trends and think conceptually. You will have a good understanding of and ability to interpret relevant legislation, and strong communication skills.
With relevant tertiary qualifications in Risk, Finance, Engineering or related discipline you will work with key stakeholders to develop, implement and plan effective processes and systems to manage risk at a site level.
