Rural Bank believes the future for agriculture is bright. We are committed to providing exceptional financial services, knowledge and leadership for Australian farmers to grow, and you can be part of it.

Rural Bank is proudly part of the Bendigo and Adelaide Bank group, offering a specialist value proposition to Australian Farmers.

What are we looking for?

An exciting opportunity exists for a qualified Valuer to join our Property Risk Team in Victoria. As part of the Credit Department, the Property Risk Team supports the business objectives of the Rural Business in relation to the credit assessment and management of agri-loans and loan portfolios. In-house valuers within the rural business provide the requisite property valuations expertise to assist in achieving our business objectives.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Property Risk, the role of Valuer will be responsible for verification of property details, analysis of comparable sales evidence, market analysis, appraisal of property values, instruction of Panel valuation firms and review of Panel valuation reports.

Valuers play an important role in the function of the Property Risk team by appraising property values at the request of frontline staff, to form a critical part of their credit submission for the borrower. Providing accurate property appraisals in a timely manner allows greater ‘speed to market’ whilst keeping risk exposure to a minimum.

The ideal candidate would have experience in the valuation of agricultural properties, and a knowledge of the banking environment. Remuneration will be commensurate with ability and experience.

Attributes to be effective in this role are:

  • Passion for working in the property sector (with a particular focus on agriculture);
  • Ability to engage and influence in order to achieve agreed objectives;
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills;
  • Ability to take initiative, build relationships and work effectively in an environment where your leader, team member(s) and internal customers may be geographically remote from your own location;
  • Strong computer skills (database, spreadsheet and word processing);
  • Integrity, tact and ability to maintain confidentiality; and
  • Sound negotiation, interpersonal and presentation skills.

Experience & Qualification requirements:

  • Certified Practising Valuer status;
  • Associate or Fellow of the Australian Property Institute (API), or RICS equivalent;

We recognise the importance of diversity and continually strive to provide an inclusive work environment where people are treated with respect; feel valued and can achieve success.  We believe our success depends on the commitment, integrity and skill of our staff.

At Rural Bank we offer our staff Flexible working arrangements as we recognise that throughout our lives we’ll experience times when we need or want more flexibility in when, where and how we work.
