About AFCA

The Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA) will commence on 1 November 2018, providing consumers and small businesses with easy access to a single scheme to resolve complaints about products and services provided by financial firms. AFCA will replace the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS), the Credit and Investments Ombudsman (CIO) and the Superannuation Complaints Tribunal (SCT).



About the role

Our new organisation is looking to appoint a Case Manager - Remediation on a full-time, fixed-term contract until 30 June 2020.

This is an excellent opportunity to use your legal and/or financial planning industry experience to join our remediation team. The team is responsible for dealing with groups of disputes from the same Financial Service Provider.  You will provide a streamlined approach to disputes brought by applicants who have already been through a Financial Service Provider's own remediation program.

 

Skills & experience

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 3-5 years industry and/or legal experience in banking and finance or financial planning and investments;

  • A sound understanding of the applicable industry and legal framework;

  • Finance, legal and/or commerce degree;

  • A good understanding of business principles and commercial practices in relevant financial industry sectors, particularly investment advice and insurance; compliance;

  • Strong written and analytical skills essential for decision making and communicating in plain English;

  • Interest in, or experience working in, remediation programs within a Financial Services Provider or regulator;

  • Interest in, or experience working in, alternative dispute resolution; and

  • The ability and passion to manage a caseload in an efficient, fair and timely manner with a clear customer focus on achieving timely and fair outcomes.
