The Role:

As the Lending Consultant, you will be responsible for driving the capability framework and skill set for our Retail lenders. You will work to support the RCE and LT in providing structured pathways to enable achievements of core accreditation while ensuring compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements. You will in turn support activities to achieve performance targets and create and maintain an engaged environment.

You will partner with the RCE/LT to identify and prioritise lending capability opportunities within the team and proactively plan to enable an approach that delivers sustainable uplift across the team through workshops, sessions, coaching and a structured operating rhythm.

Accountabilities include but are not limited to:

  • Support delivery of strategic initiatives designed to improve lending productivity (conversion, quality and banking /wealth integration).
  • Collaborating with individual bankers and other risk partners to enable a right first time approach to file submissions, through work-shopping applications, utilising policy and process coaching to enable the right outcomes for the business whilst also uplifting banker capability.
  • Mandatory application quality reviews for ongoing annual accreditation validation to align with robust DCA governance.
  • Apply a proactive and structured operating rhythm that includes branch visits, banker coaching sessions, Leader/Lender days, Partnership meetings, LAM/team events (alignment, strategy, etc).
  • Proactively monitoring risk and assurance requirements within agreed Risk Appetite and managing non-compliance in a timely manner, including the identification and escalation of compliance events / losses / breaches as incurred.
  • Enable strong business performance through regular coaching, feedback and development using NAB performance framework and inspire tools and methodology.
  • Identify, build and maintain trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders (i.e. T&)O, PB Risk, Wealth, Business Bank, Local Leadership Councils, local professional networks, community groups, Chamber of Commerce) and a community presence
  • Partner with the leadership team for effective talent management, succession planning, recruitment and building capability to drive performance across the LAM/teams.
  • Support the Regional Customer Executive (RCE) or Leadership Team (LT) in driving activities to achieve performance targets.

Your experience:

Driven and tenacious, your experience in, and enjoyment of all aspects of Lending development, capability and processes will equip you to make an instant impact in this highly absorbing and rewarding role. Your understanding of retail lending, exercising a DCA, the financial services industry, market and competitor activity, customer trends, preferences and customer segments will all work in your favour when partnering with the RCE and LT to uplift the capability frameworks of our lenders and delivery of key objectives on the One NAB Plan. In return we will offer a supportive team environment which will enable your learning and core development in this role.
