Job Description

The Senior Business Analyst is a senior member of Tas Gas Retail (TGR).  The position exists to execute the day to day operational requirements of large wholesale gas contracts together with providing assistance to the TGR Manager in undertaking the operational requirements of the business.

• Key tasks include:
• Contribute to operational planning activities
• Contract management
• Financial modelling, budgeting and reporting
• Data analysis and forecasting
• Customer liaison
• Compliance and risk management

The role has some routine tasks but is largely diverse and varied.  Ideally the successful candidate will have a natural interest in the energy market with the desire to develop expertise in natural gas.  This knowledge will be important in order to ensure the business remains relevant and value is achieved for customers and our stakeholders.

Some weekend and public holiday work is required – up to 15 minutes per day to execute contract requirements. 

The TGR Team is based in Launceston.  Applicants based out of Hobart will be considered, however, if based in Hobart the successful candidate will be required to travel regularly to the Launceston office.

Our Successful Candidate should display the following skills

• Tertiary qualification in business, accounting, economics or suitable equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years experience working as a business analyst or similar role.
• Previous experience in working with senior management in developing and delivering strategic and operational requirements.
• Building and maintaining internal and external relationships at an appropriate level.
• Exceptional interpersonal and oral & written communication skills.
• Strong organisational and time management skills including ability to respond in a solution focused manner when faced with complex issues or problems.
• Ability to work autonomously as well as being a cooperative and collaborative team player.
• Ability to juggle multiple projects through inception to completion under time constraints.
• Analytical & creative problem solving ability including demonstrated knowledge and experience of using Microsoft Excel to prepare models and analysis to an Advanced level.
• Demonstrated ability to apply discretion, judgement and confidentiality.
• Knowledge of the Australian natural gas industry (desirable).
• Current Tasmanian Driver’s License.
