We are growing and transforming, as demonstrated by our Blue Highways strategy and the recent purchase of Manly Fast Ferry, as well as our work with electric and autonomous vehicles. The opportunity we present is as a Financial Accountant. This role is a 12 month fixed term contract with potential to go permanent. The successful candidate must be able to travel to our Offices in Sydney Olympic Park, Wynyard as well as Darling Harbour (Marine).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Calculate accruals, prepayments and provision balances, applying appropriate methodology for estimating assets and liabilities
  • Complete reconciliations of balance sheet accounts, prepare aging of reconciling items and complete clearance activity in a timely manner
  • Complete analysis of profit & loss and balance sheet accounts including explanation of variances to budget, forecast and prior year
  • Ensure compliance with finance policies and procedures and accounting standards
  • Assist in drafting of new finance policies and procedures or changes to existing policies and procedures
  • Research and interpret new accounting standards and changes to existing accounting standards and providerecommendation of application to NRMA
  • Research accounting treatment of new transactions and prepare technical accounting papers to support NRMA position
  • Identify opportunities for improvement of finance systems and processes and assist in implementation
  • Provide insightful and evidence informed analysis and advice to key stakeholders to support decision making

Essential

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or a related discipline
  • Qualified or studying towards CA or CPA
  • Process Improvement experience
  • System integration experience
  • 3 years + experience in a similar position
  • Proven excellence in interpreting and communicating technical accounting issues under Australian International Financial Reporting Standards
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • MYOB experience
  • Strong communicator with ability to build solid working relationships with a range of key stakeholders
  • Ability to work under pressure with competing priorities and meet tight deadlines
  • Customer focused with commitment to delivering outstanding service

Desirable

  • Experienced in Oracle
