QinetiQ Australia is seeking the services of Cost Estimators to develop cost estimates for Defence projects using various costing methods, undertake statistical analysis of cost and schedule data, and quantify project risks. Candidates with various levels of experience in whole of life cost modelling and estimation will be considered, as long as they have the potential to work independently. The position is based in Canberra.
Responsibilities:
- Develop cost estimates for major Defence projects from first principles or by using parametric costing tools (TruePlanning) - projects typically encompass various domains (air, land, sea, cyber, business) and stages of maturity (conceptual to tender ready projects).
- Undertake probabilistic modelling (Monte Carlo) of project uncertainty and risk.
- Verify and validate third party cost models.
- Develop documentation explaining and supporting cost estimates.
- Support the development and delivery of cost estimation training.
- Communicate with engineers, project managers, other subject matter experts and senior management.
Required Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree covering either mathematics, statistics, engineering, economics or equivalent.
- Experience in quantitative analysis such as regression analysis and other statistical modelling techniques.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
- Ability to obtain and retain a Department of Defence security clearance.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in using TruePlanning, SEER, @Risk or other probabilistic modelling tools.
Applicants MUST be an Australian citizen and eligible to obtain a minimum Australian Government security clearance of NV1.
