Our client a significant player in the mining industry is looking to hire an experienced Project Accountant/Cost Controller on a permanent basis. This role will be initially based in West Perth but will then relocate to site North of Perth for a minimum period of 2 years after which you will have the option to relocate to Perth with the company.
The primary focus of this role will be to control and manage construction budgets whilst working with senior operational managers to ensure projects are managed in a timely manner and within budget. This will be an exciting and varied opportunity with a chance to develop your existing skills and work with a broad spectrum of people and establish robust financial procedures and practices your main duties will include:
• Leadership of cost management for the Project
• Typical month-end duties including cost reviews, journals, progress & valuation
• Review of historical project costs within ERP system and manage cost groupings where necessary in conjunction with FM via interrogation of ERP modules to determine appropriate and accurate project costing and completion cost trends
• Proactive management and the preparation of reports, statistics, variance analysis and commentary reflecting project cash flows, cost to complete and related performance measures
• Lead business planning functions in relation to the project including quarterly forecasting and budgeting for the project
• Review of contractor progress claims
• Lead for all daily, weekly and monthly cost and KPI reporting internally
To be considered for this role you must have at least 5 years’ experience in a site based role you must also be able to relocate for at least 2 years. You will have strong cost management skills and have interest ERP systems as part of the role will involve some development of the newly installed system. You will also be highly analytical and be comfortable building and maintaining complex spreadsheets.
