Accountant - NSW State Government - Parramatta Location

Our large NSW State Government client provides a diverse range of essential services to reduce criminal activity and enhance protection of the community. They are currently seeking an experienced Accountant to join the team in Parramatta, for an estimated 6months temporary contract, potentially longer.

In this rewarding role, you will be undertaking the following duties –

• Coordinate and deliver end to end and financial reporting for the departments financial sector accounts
• Collate and develop reporting for financial audits
• Establish and maintain effective stakeholder relationships
• Answer general inquiries, providing timely responses
• Work closely with the Corporate Services Finance team responsible for receivables, payables, budgets, revenue, expenditure, forecasting, purchase orders, invoicing and reconciliation
• Identify, analyse and resolve issues that may arise ensuring financial records comply with Departmental policies and legislation

To be successful in this assignment you will have the following –

• Tertiary Qualifications in Accounting
• Demonstrated Accounting experience in a similar role
• Strong Microsoft Excel
• SAP system experience
• Sound understanding of Public Sector Financial management practices, policies and legislation
• Solid analytical and problem-solving skills and an aptitude for learning 
• Impeccable communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work within a high-volume environment with set deadlines/timeframes
• High attention to detail
• Ability to commence the assignment almost immediately and commit to the duration
