We are currently seeking a talented and ambitious Financial Accountant to join our results orientated Finance team based in Port Melbourne.
Reporting to the Senior Financial Accountant, this opportunity focuses on ensuring balance sheet accounts are accurate and fully reconciled monthly and all reconciling items cleared in a timely manner, all contributions to tax compliance requirements are accurate and submitted on time every time, and all audit requirements (both internal and external) are submitted in accordance with relevant timetables.
Your key responsibilities will include;
- Take full ownership of balance sheet accounts as allocated by the Senior Financial Accountant
- Ensure all standard monthly journals and accrual entries relevant to your balance sheet accounts are accurate and processed in a timely manner
- Gain a solid understanding of all other balance sheet accounts and act as backup for other Financial Accounting team members in times of heavy workload or personal leave commitments
- Mentor Assistant Accountants and sign off on all journals of the Assistant Accountants relevant to your allocated balance sheet accounts
- Maintain a continual improvement mindset identifying areas for improvement, and suggest and assist in implementation of solutions to streamline the month end journal process. This will require gaining a full understanding of all systems used by WWG and how each system interfaces with the financial ERP
- Ensure the timely completion and accuracy of your allocated balance sheet reconciliations monthly
As the successful candidate, you are an established Financial Accountant with proven experience in either Commercial or Chartered Accounting. You are CPA qualified and you have completed tertiary qualifications in Accounting or a related field. You possess superior analytical skills, a keen eye for detail and you have the ability to thrive in a time pressured environment. You are an active, hardworking team player with excellent communication and strong relationship building skills. Advanced excel skills with a working knowledge of large ERP systems is essential in your success.
