The Opportunity:

This role is offered as a transfer for existing APS employees or long term contract for others. Genuine opportunity to join a large, rapidly evolving Government entity and grow your finance career in a specialist costing space.

The Role:

This is a specialist role working specifically on cost accounting and financial modelling challenges. This role requires effective leadership in a dynamic environment and ability to use technology to meet heightened stakeholder expectations and to improve the quality of management information. Other key duties include;

• Maintain and develop costing models to deliver accurate and timely financial information to the executive to facilitate decision making
• Undertake the development of projection models, performance indicators and monitoring tools.
• Review and refine cost allocation methodologies and assumptions to continuously improve the function.
• Undertake detailed analysis of projected revenue estimates against actual revenue earned.
• Development of the Cost Recovery Impact Statements dealing with new draft fees.
• Undertake the preparation of internal reports for submission to the Senior Executive.
• Assist in the review and development of the cost recovery methodology.
• Look for opportunities to synthesise cost recovery model with the external budget model.
• Work closely with other business stakeholders to identify and advise on key cost drivers
• Review performance and assumptions against industry benchmarking data to help identify improvement opportunities
• Assist with budget and forecasting tasks as required

The Person:

You will be a high performing Management Accountant with strong problem solving skills and the ability navigate the ‘grey’ areas to produce supportable costing assumptions. You will work closely with the Director and your team to develop the cost models and ensure the business is provided with meaningful insight and analysis to facilitate decisions. Experience and skills required for the role include;. Experience and skills required for the role include;

• Demonstrated experience in government financial management.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications (Accounting) or progress towards is highly desirable.
• Highly developed skills in the use of Microsoft Excel.
• Experience and demonstrated ability in the development and maintenance of complex costing models and costing analysis highly regarded.
• High level conceptual and analytical skills. Able to define problems and adapt analytical tools and frameworks to resolve more complex issues.
• Demonstrated understanding of Commonwealth Government accounting processes and regulatory requirements.
• Have a strong work ethic, be able to respond quickly and flexibly to change and operate within a dynamic and fast paced environment.
• Demonstrated liaison, interpersonal and negotiation skills, including the ability to influence stakeholders through strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Applicant MUST be Australian Citizens to be considered for this opportunity. An AGSVA Security Clearance is required.

The Salary:

$100 - $115k + 15.4% super
