The Police Health Group provide quality health insurance for our policing and emergency services communities nationally, through our two not-for-profit health funds, Police Health and Emergency Services Health.
As a growing business, this presents an ideal time to join our team. We are seeking an experienced and diligent Accountant to join our close-knit Finance team bringing with them expertise, strong work ethic and team approach.
The role
Working in a small professional team and reporting to the Finance Manager, key responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and completing Month-end, Quarterly and Annual Financial Reports including regulatory returns and tax-related returns
- Assisting with the preparation of Annual departmental budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis and Premium Application (rate change) forecasts
- Maintaining, monitoring and reviewing CAPEX / Fixed Asset Register, including depreciation expense
- Preparing accounting support to assigned departments, including monthly P&L variance analysis
- Cash-flow management
- Participation in, or at times, leading financial projects including financial modelling and the design and preparation of financial reporting
- Involvement in compliance, risk management and regular audit operations or special projects
- Back-up support for payroll functions
About you
You'll need to be a passionate Accountant taking pride in high quality work with an unwavering attention to detail. Your analytical skills and willingness to always look beyond the numbers to contribute valuable inputs and improvements to our accounting practices and outputs, will be important to your success. A sense of team work, along with a proactive approach is essential. Strong Excel skills will be well utilised as will your ability to prioritise and meet deadlines. Experience within a highly regulated industry will be well regarded although is not essential.
