The Company
An opportunity to join a leading liquor distribution company in Australia part of a larger multinational group. We are seeking an Assistant Accountant to join on a 3 month contract with the possibility of a full-time permanent position at the end of the contract. This is an exciting opportunity with an immediate start.
The Role
The Assistant Accountant is responsible for providing support with Finance in performing the full accounting function.
Other duties include;
- Accounts payable
- Accounts receivable
- Payroll
- Assistance with the preparation of company tax and other compliance obligations including State Payroll Taxes, BAS, Fringe Benefits Taxes and Superannuation
- Accounting for advertising and promotion claims, claim recovery from suppliers and associated reporting
- Process bank transactions, supplier invoices sales invoices and employee expense claims
- Process credit applications and credit reference checks
- Bank Reconciliations and other Balance Sheet reconciliations
- Assist with the preparation of monthly management reports
- Maintain supplier claims register and reporting
- Ad hoc financial tasks as required
As the right candidate for the role you;
- Have previous Accounting experience in Australia
- Have strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Have relevant tertiary qualifications with an Accounting major
- Are working towards completing or having completed your CA/CPA
- Are competent to advanced level in Excel - PivotTable, Lookup, Ifs, Sumif, XLCube
- Proven experience with administration, data analysis and reporting
- Have a knowledge of NAV is highly regarded
- Have excellent attention to detail and accuracy
