Position Overview

  • A key finance role within the Adelaide corporate office, providing support to the CFO, senior management and key stakeholders;
  • Champion of best practice accounting and finance systems, policies and standards;
  • Responsibility for the preparation of financial, statutory and taxation returns/reporting for the Group;
  • Responsibility for the Group's treasury function, including budgeting, forecasting and the business planning process;

    Primary Responsibilities

    Financial Accounting

  • Timely capture of financial information that complies with the relevant accounting policies and legislative requirements of the Group;
  • Review supporting AP documents prior to authorisation of payments;
  • Review of bank reconciliations, month-end journals and consolidated financial statements;

    Financial and Statutory Reporting

  • Preparation of the Annual and Half Yearly Financial Statements;
  • Preparation of the Quarterly Appendix 5B submissions to ASX;
  • Establish and maintain relationships with auditors to ensure reporting obligations are achieved;

    Reporting and Analysis

  • Timely reporting (management) of accurate and relevant financial information, that complies with all relevant accounting policies and legislative requirements of the Group;
  • Monthly management reporting to the Board – responsible for the timely analysis and development of commentary of actual performance, KPI's etc;

    Treasury, Budgeting and Forecasting

  • Maintain an effective treasury and cash flow management process;
  • Oversight of the business planning, annual budgeting and monthly forecasting processes
  • Bank account management – opening and closing accounts, changing signatories.

    Systems and Compliance

  • Lead and champion the enhancement and development of Pronto reporting processes and procedures;
  • Implementation of new reporting software.

    Corporate Accounting Department

  • Assist in the development and refinement of the Group's accounting practices and performance;
  • Documentation of technical position papers to address new and evolving accounting issues.

    People Accountabilities

  • Build strong working relationships with stakeholders and encourage positive collaboration in transforming business objectives into strategic direction;

    Taxation

  • Oversight of the preparation and submission of the Group's BAS and FBT;
  • Review calculation and submission of the Group's monthly payroll taxes and annual tax reconciliations;
  • In conjunction with the Group's Tax Advisors, preparation and analysis of information for the Group's Australian consolidated tax returns and review of deferred tax workings;
  • Respond to tax authorities on ad-hoc queries.

    General

  • Cover payroll and HR duties of the Senior Office Administrator.

    Desired Qualification and Qualities

    Qualifications

  • Qualified CA/CPA or equivalent

    Experience

  • Strong knowledge of accounting standards and financial reporting frameworks;
  • Experience in a resources business (JV accounting) or other project-based industry such as construction;
  • Advanced Excel, MS Word skills;
  • Pronto experience desirable.

  • Attention to detail.
