We are looking for an experienced Financial Manager to join our growing team of professionals in Canberra. The primary responsibility of the Finance and Business Operations manager will be to perform every day financial activities and subsequently provide advice and guidance to management on future financial plans. The goal is to enable the company’s leaders to make sound business decisions and meet the company’s objectives. Applicants must be able to demonstrate a sound background in a hands on financial management role and be looking to advance their career with an expanding team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and management of operations including finance, internal controls and contracts.
  • Manage the day to day financial operations of the business
  • Perform daily accounting activities
  • All bookkeeping and payroll functions including year end and reconciliations.
  • All finance monitoring, analysis and reporting including cashflow and vendor account management
  • Manage a small team of account and sales assistants
  • Provide financial reports and interpret financial information to the Management Team while recommending further courses of action.
  • Advise on investment activities and provide strategies that the company should take
  • Maintain the financial health of the organization.
  • Analyze costs, pricing, variable contributions, sales results and the company’s actual performance compared to the business plans.
  • Develop trends and projections for the firm’s finances.
  • Conduct reviews and evaluations for streamlining of processes.
  • Oversee operations of the finance department, set goals and objectives, and design a framework for these to be met.
  • Liase with auditors to ensure appropriate monitoring of company finances is maintained.
  • Correspond with various other departments, discussing company plans and agreeing on future paths to be taken.

Experience Required:

  • Proven experience as a Financial Manager
  • Experience in the financial sector with previous roles in finance and business operations
  • Proficient user of finance packages
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Able to manage, guide and lead employees to ensure appropriate financial processes
  • A solid understanding of financial and accounting principles
  • Working knowledge of all statutory legislation and regulations
  • Formal tertiary qualifications in a relevant area of study (e.g. BA Commerce)
  • Professional qualification such as CFA/CPA or similar will be considered a plus
  • Knowledge and interest in the ICT sector will set you apart although isn’t required
