Southern Steel Group, the largest privately owned steel distributor in Australia, requires an experienced Credit Controller to champion the credit function for their operations based in Hope Valley and Welshpool, WA.
This is an end to end, hands on position at the forefront of performing the credit function for Southern Steel WA, WA Cutting Services and Boyd Metal Industries. Reporting to the General Managers (WA) and working closely with the National Credit Manager (NSW).
Responsibilities of the role:
- End to end debt recovery, negotiating payment terms, preparing and implementing payment plans;
- Research, recommend limits and process all new credit account applications;
- Maintain PPSR register;
- Reviewing any potential exposure and limiting risks, monitoring high risk accounts;
- Assist with accounts handed over for legal action;
- Attend credit bureau meetings and build relationships with industry credit professionals;
- Monthly DSO values and end of month reporting;
- Daily administration including data entry and filing.
Required skills and experience:
- A high degree of accuracy and strong attention to detail (reflected in your written resume);
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision making skills;
- Excellent ability to build and maintain relationships with colleagues and customers;
- Excellent negotiation skills;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills;
- Excellent computer skills and working knowledge of MS Excel;
- A good working knowledge of current and impending legal requirements, external administrations and legal recovery process;
- Ability to work with a team, manage time and see targets are achieved on a timely basis.
About you:
To be considered for this role you must have a high level of credit control experience, preferably within a complex environment. You will have excellent time management skills yet maintain a degree of flexibility to handle things as they arise.
Our ideal candidate will build and maintain strong relationships and pick up the phone before firing off an email.
Whilst this role is based at Hope Valley (Naval Base), travelling to Welshpool once a week is a requirement.
