The organisation

WCS is a not for profit community based organisation that has been providing services for over 45 years. Our vision is to work closely with key stakeholders to build and nurture a vibrant and connected community.

WCS delivers a broad range of services on behalf of the ACT and Australian Governments across the ACT and region.  These services cover a cross-section of the community from children, families, young people and seniors, disability, housing, refugees and mental health programs.  We employ close to 400 permanent and casual staff and have approximately 80 active volunteers.

About the role

As the Payroll Manager, you will be responsible for the end-to-end processing of fortnightly pay runs, managing employee variables such as allowances, conditions, leave & superannuation and performing critical reporting and data entry activities on a regular basis.

Your role will also entail:

  • Liaising with employees regarding payroll enquiries.
  • Ensuring employee information is accurate and complete.
  • Processing resignations, redundancies and other ad-hoc payments as required.
  • Keeping abreast of relevant legislative changes across the payroll function and implementing changes accordingly.
  • Liaising with external stakeholders including salary packaging providers, ATO, insurers and auditors.

The Payroll Manager will also be responsible for ensuring best practice in payroll and a continual improvement methodology within the larger team.

About you

The successful candidate will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, have a keen eye for detail and strong emotional resilience. Outstanding time management and problem solving skills and strong technical expertise are also necessary to ensure that the payroll function is administered accurately and consistently each fortnight.

The ideal candidate must possess demonstrated experience in both payroll and people management and be able to work autonomously as well as within a team.

Previous recent experience with Chris21 and/or iChris is essential to be successful in this role.
