About the role

Reporting directly to the Chief of Corporate Operations, the Chief Financial Officer will be responsible for leading and driving the ongoing development of the finance function and ensuring alignment with the organisation wide strategy.  In addition to this, as part of the core business of WorkSafe Victoria the position is required to be interpretive, use evaluation tools and constructive, lateral thinking to address new and existing challenges to help drive the continuous improvement of the organisation.



Duties

  • To develop, execute and maintain an overall strategy for the Finance and Corporate Administration functions
  • Provision of timely and accurate statutory reporting and external compliance requirements on behalf of WorkSafe Management, the Board and Minister
  • Provision of timely and accurate management information and analysis to WorkSafe Management and the Board in relation to budgets, financial performance, economic evaluation and general financial analysis
  • Responsibility for the integrity of financial procedure, processes and methodology used throughout the organisation
  • Manage and maintain the cash flow and investment function of the organisation in accordance with prudential guidelines
  • Ensure the implementation of the financial plan and report to the Board in a timely manner on any deviations from the plan or any parameters established by the Board
  • Provide general management and leadership of a team of Finance Managers in the day to day financial and accounting affairs of WorkSafe
  • Ensure appropriate financial, accounting and auditing policies and procedures are developed, maintained, approved and disclosed
  • Management of the payroll function
  • Provide an efficient administration function to the organisation including fleet, property, purchasing, and Library, Reception, Security and Records Management services.
  

Skills and Experience

You are CA/CPA qualified, and have compiled an impressive track record and reputation as a high achieving finance leader.  You have highly developed technical accounting skills and commercial acumen, along with proven experience managing complex and high level stakeholder relationships.  You are a big picture thinker who is able to reason at a conceptual level and drive change, while still maintaining a strong attention to detail.  Specifically, you have demonstrated a strong capability to drive organisational performance and efficiency, and to develop strategies to manage financial, operational, legal, and reputational risk.


Crucially, you are a natural leader with a strong depth of experience in managing large teams, and have the confidence and credibility to engage effectively and build relationships at Board level, and with senior executives and operational stakeholders.
