Sheffield Resources is developing the Thunderbird Mineral Sands Project, a large-scale mineral sands mining project with low environmental impacts and long term community benefits. The project is located 140km by road between Broome and Derby in Western Australia and has a current mine life in excess of 40 years.  The two-year construction period of the project is planned to commence in 2018.

About the Position

This is a fantastic newly created position for a dependable professional to get in with a Greenfields mining venture at the grass roots level.

Working closely with key project personnel, this position will be accountable for the cost management of the project covering engineering, procurement and construction activities, in addition to developing cost management systems and functions.  Supporting the project management team, you will be responsible for delivery of robust financial measurement and reporting, variance analysis and process improvement for the Thunderbird Mineral Sands Project.  Integral to this role is the ability to thoroughly comprehend the internal requirements of the Company in addition to the external reporting requirements of the project.

A unique opportunity to make your mark, you will utilise your expertise to lead the creation of project cost controls, systems and reporting whilst also providing project management with advice and commentary on both schedule and contract variations.

 About You

We are seeking a diligent professional who has a proven track record of working autonomously and as part of a team on large-scale projects.

The role will suit an individual who is looking to have a lasting career with a mining company and who will appreciate the coastal Kimberley lifestyle.

The successful candidate will have:

• Degree or qualifications in a relevant discipline such as business, accounting or engineering.
• Previous experience working on a major construction or mining related project on either client side or EPC side.
• An expert knowledge of site based cost control, cost reviews, journals, progress, valuations, reporting, variance analysis, forecasting and budgeting.
• Advanced user of Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems. Previous user of SAP (Business by Design), MS Project and knowledge of Primavera is ideal but not essential.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel modelling skills.
• Ability to work effectively, sensitively, inclusively and respectfully with our diverse workforce and community stakeholders.
• Excellent time‐management, attention to detail and problem‐solving skills.
• A safety-first approach and continuous improvement mindset.
• A current drivers license.

Location

This position will ideally be located in Broome or Derby. Perth based candidates who would consider moving to the Broome or Derby area within a reasonable time frame are also encouraged to apply.
