An opportunity exists with Australia's world-leading Antarctic Airline operator which has its operational bases in Melbourne and Hobart but retains an executive office in Sydney (Woollahra) where you will work.

To be successful in this role you will be an enthusiastic and confident person who demonstrates initiative, a mature attitude and is comfortable with working autonomously. We are seeking someone who has a desire to work collaboratively in a team environment while also taking charge of their function.

 

The key responsibilities and duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Day to day office administration including mail, supplies, email management and arranging international and domestic travel.

  • Reception duties including phone, email and assisting visitors.

  • Assisting the Payroll, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Administration departments.

  • Assisting with the preparation of month end and year end accounting and reporting processes.

  • Monthly preparation of Business Activity Statements and Payroll Tax Returns.

  • Preparation of weekly reports to the Commonwealth.

  • Support the development of monthly, quarterly and annual reports to the board of directors.

  • Assisting with monthly and annual external audits.

  • Ad-hoc projects in relation to accounting and operational processes.

  • Liaison with staff in the Melbourne and Hobart office.

 

Selection Criteria:

  • Demonstrated customer service skills including the ability to build rapport with customers and suppliers.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel & Word skills

  • Good communication skills, both written and oral

  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment

  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail

  • Ability to independently prioritise work and meet deadlines.

  • Familiarity with IT systems and maintaining online records and files for quality assurance purposes.

 

Desirable:

  • Experience in working with a paperless office and online software and systems

  • Commercial experience in a similar role.

  • Experience working with online accounting systems.
