The Role

Reporting to the National Commercial Manager with a strong focus on business partnering with the QLD General Manager and the operations team you will provide on the ground commercial support. In addition to the reporting, analysis, budgeting and forecasting, the role will support the business/operations to achieve its objectives and various initiatives including:

• Productivity improvement and optimisation
• Better return on our assets, business case preparation and directing investment where its most needed
• Cost savings and expenditure controls
• Performance analytics and visibility

Your key responsibilities include but not limited to:

• Review all major new business proposals and ensure both the pricing method and the key assumptions are clearly defined and commercially sound. Identify the commercial risks in those proposals and offer recommendations to reduce that risk to manageable levels.
• Prepare and/or assist in the pricing of smaller business proposals or ad hoc service requests of customers.
• Ensure consistency and efficiency of the systems used to price business and use the standardised costing models to reduce the likelihood of pricing errors.
• Provide commercial analysis of businesses that are generating below-benchmark returns and recommend solutions to address problems.
• Participate in business reviews with customers and provide commercial and relationship support for improvements in operational, service or financial performance.
• Provide general financial or commercial advice to National & Business Managers on ad hoc business issues.
• Assist sites in the preparatory commercial analysis to justify capital expenditure proposals.
• Prepare formal reviews of major capital expenditure proposals as requested by Corporation.

To be successful in this position you will have

• Extensive experience in a Commercial environment within Transport/Logistics environment or similar industry
• Demonstrated practical understanding & experience of operations.
• Solid technical background with exceptional commercial and business partnering experience
  Strong and effective communication & interpersonal skills
• Ability to develop strong partnerships and relationships with key stakeholders both internally and externally
  Ability to think ahead and strategically, to identify the possible future risks and maximise opportunities.
• Advanced Excel skills

The successful applicant will need to pass the medical requirements for this role and undertake relevant inductions.
