About the Role:
This role is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of a small Fund Accounting Team to successfully deliver fund accounting services to our superannuation clients. The purpose of the position is to deliver a streamlined and seamless approach across all superannuation services to ensure effective and proactive two-way dialogue with Operations, Risk and Compliance and Technology Teams. As the First State Super Fund Accounting Leader and key business partner to internal and external stakeholders, you will be responsible for providing strategic insights and advice to support decision making, and continuously improve processes and procedures to ensure Mercer provides a cost effective standardised offering that delivers tangible value for our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Management of a small team who support the day to day delivery of services to First State Super and their Trustee Office.
- Stakeholder management across internal and external stakeholders. This requires clear communication, regular and active engagement, coaching, and support as required.
- Provide oversight and direction to the Fund Accounting team to ensure that:
- Services are delivered in accordance with service level agreements and are of high quality
- Controls are effectively designed and implemented
- Processes are effective and efficient
- Management of information and reporting to effectively monitor service delivery and performance
- Proactive and responsive engagement with auditors and regulators
Responsibility for ensuring the following client deliverables are prepared and peer reviewed to ensure delivery in accordance with client expectations and supporting Service Level Agreements:
Fund Accounting Services
- Management Reporting
- Financial Accounting
- APRA Reporting
Client Reporting, Analysis & General Ledger
- Data processing & analysis
- GL Journals
- GL Maintenance
Oversight of Tax Services
- Instalment and Business Activity Statements (IAS/BAS)
- Unit pricing tax provisions and alignments
- Deferred tax asset management
- Contributions tax management
- Tax returns
Supporting project and initiatives within Finance Operations and the wider business, including:
- Client system migrations
- Product changes
- Process improvements
- System implementations
About you:
You have extensive experience working in the Financial Services industry in a people management position, within Superannuation Accounting and Tax. In addition to this, you are tertiary qualified in Business or Accounting with a CA or CPA.
Please note: This role is Sydney based, however, frequent travel to Wollongong is required.
