This is an exciting opportunity to join a recognised Mining business that is impressively committed to offering innovative solutions for a sustainable resource future. They pride themselves on a world class energy portfolio that is diverse and
recognised globally whilst supporting the local region of Far North Queensland for over 20 years. It has been identified there is an urgent need for a highly talented and experienced Site Accountant, to join the team for a 4 month contract to provide support through budget preparation. This role is being offered with camp accommodation and flights to and from Brisbane or it would be possible to drive in and out from Rockhampton.
Reporting to the Commercial Manager amongst a small team you will be responsible for yet not limited to -
- Monthly financial and management reporting
- Gathering data and applying analytics to support the budgeting and forecasting process
- Capital applications and asset reporting
- Taxation and regulatory reporting
- Support the preparation of capital proposals
- Interaction with operational staff to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the management and job cost reports and investigate any variances.
- Ongoing monitoring of management information in conjunction with operations management to ensure financial and management reports meet internal deadlines and are accurate and reliable
- Capital Expenditure evaluation and justification, as well as ensuring appropriate Asset Register maintenance, reconciliation and reporting
- Support General and Operational Managers to cost and budget new and existing projects, contracts and opportunities.
- Ensure monthly claims and invoices are prepared in accordance with contractual terms, and monitored to ensure timely receipt
It is anticipated that candidates will have previous experience in a site based accounting role, in a mining or similar environment. You should be degree qualified and CA/CPA qualified. Strong attention to detail, willingness to roll up your sleeves and be pro-active will see you exceed in this role.Advanced Excel, previous experience with SAP and or BI would be ideal.
