The Company
The Australian subsidiary of this mid-sized global organisation is seeking an Accountant to assume Financial Management responsibilities for a 4-5 month period of parental leave in this stand-alone role. 

This opportunity will suit a tenured Accountant who has worked in a full function accounting role covering reporting, taxation and transactional accounting duties. 
 
The Role
Reporting to the Regional GM the responsibilities of this position will;
  • Produce monthly profit and loss reports, posting all wage journals, accruals, and prepayments
  • Monitor and interpreting cash flows and predicting future trends
  • Produce accurate financial reports to specific deadlines
  • Research, analyse and report on changes in financial and business performance and advising accordingly
  • Report to the UK Head Office on business and financial performance, including:
    • Monthly financial results and commentary on performance compared to budget and prior year
    • Cash balances and forecasts
    • Debt outstanding and any expected debt recovery issues
  • Engage with key stakeholders across the business
  • Update & maintain the control environment including appropriate processes, reviews, and reconciliations
  • Develop financial management mechanisms that minimise financial risk
  • Conduct reviews and evaluate cost-reduction opportunities
  • Maintain external relationships with appropriate contacts, e.g. auditors, solicitors, bankers and statutory organisation
  • Effectively manage the end to end AP and AR functions
  • Manage the processing of small monthly payroll through the external provider.
Skills and Experience Required
  • CPA/ACA qualified or equivalent
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, in writing, and over the telephone with individuals and with a wide variety of organisations and audiences and to research, analyse and interpret complex information and produce clear verbal and written reports.
  • Up to date knowledge of Financial Accounting Standards
  • Ability to work on own initiative, prioritise work, handle pressure and take day-to-day decisions on the running of the organisation.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements
  • Inspirational people management and leadership qualities
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • The ability to think strategically and act pragmatically at all times
  • To be hard working and committed in order to quickly become a member of the department and the business
  • Experience of working within an international organisation and reporting to a remote head office.
