My Gosford based client has an immediately need for a Purchasing Officer to join their team. This is replacing a contractor and therefore requires the successful candidate to start immediately. 1-2 years of experience required. This role is an administrative purchasing officer role working for a leading State Government Department.
You will provide an efficient and cost effective purchasing service and give sound advice to managers and staff on purchasing policies, procedures and best practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Check purchase requisitions for delegated authority, cost codes and ensure compliance with procurement policy and procedures, guidelines and delegations.
- Enter details in purchasing module, quality check data to ensure accuracy and dispatch purchase orders.
- Analyse items purchased and expenditure patterns to identify opportunities for more efficient and cost-effective purchasing.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of strategic category management plans reflecting leading procurement practice for nominated categories.
- Investigate outstanding purchase orders and close-off in accordance with organisation procedures, when no longer required.
- Maintain the accuracy of data in systems and tools Input into the ongoing monitoring, analysis and reporting on performance against the NSW Government, Category Management Strategy.
- Participate within the team environment to expedite and complete assigned workload to project timeframes.
Key challenges
- Ensuring compliance with NSW Government Procurement Policy and associated guidelines and practices.
- Applying analytical skills to deal with issues as they arise and advising/recommending a course of action.
- Setting priorities, working to tight timeframes and competing deadlines
Stakeholders:
- Internal Procurement stakeholders and External stakeholders will be Vendors/Service providers and industry professionals/consultants
Vendors/Service Providers will be required to - Develop relationships and networks to ensure the timely supply of goods and services.
- Liaise with NSW Government Procurement in relation to State Contracts and procurement policies and guidelines.
- Seek/maintain specialist knowledge/advice on best practice in procurement
- Participate in appropriate forums/groups as required to increase knowledge and represent the agency
