About us

Southern Migrant Resource Centre (SMRC) is celebrating its Silver Jubilee this year.  SMRC is a not for profit organization that aims at empowering the diverse communities in the South East Region of Melbourne to ensure inclusion in a unified Australian Society.  We work in partnership with our communities and other stakeholders to ensure that the new comers in the community are well supported to reach their maximum potential by developing and delivering progressive programs using a strengths based approach.

The Position

We are looking for a Financial Controller to be a part of the Executive Leadership Team.  This is a new role and you will have the opportunity to make a mark.  You will report to the CEO and will have the opportunity to make your mark in the areas of planning, development, implementation and monitoring of the effective finance, quality assurance, risk management functions, resources and assets of SMRC.  You will act as a strategic partner and assist the CEO to lead and drive the organisation to achieve its strategic goals, in particular support the longer term sustainability for the organisation.

Requirements:

The role will suit a well-rounded, energetic and enthusiastic professional, with relentless focus on delivering exceptional services to internal and external clients, and promoting a philosophy of accountability. Your tertiary qualifications in Accounting, and comprehensive knowledge of budget preparation, financial reporting, administration and accounting procedures will put you in good stead for this role.

Besides, you will also bring your strong business acumen and stakeholder management strategy to this role along with your excellent leadership skills to ensure operations are undertaken in the most efficient manner.

You will have a passion for innovation and seek to secure the most creative solution to a diverse range of challenges. You will enjoy seeing the completion of projects to the satisfaction of your internal and external customers. You will be outcome focused but able to understand and recognise the community services and human resource context in which you work.

The Location

This position is based in Dandenong, a great place to work because it is the most diverse region in Australia.  You do not need to travel the world to taste food from a large range of countries.  Dandenong Market which is at the doorsteps of SMRC offers you food from across the world at a price that does not pinch your pocket.
