Railtrain is a specialist provider of workforces, nationally recognised training, track protection and rail maintenance & construction services to the Australian Rail Industry.
Due to significant growth opportunities, Railtrain is seeking to recruit a Business Analyst to support the Chief Financial Officer/Company Secretary in providing commercial support to the business and the delivery of strategic, commercial and business improvement projects.
This role would ideally suit an individual with 2 – 4 years post-graduate experience in a commercial or finance role looking to broaden their experience or alternatively in a big four or mid-tier accounting/consulting firm seeking to transition to commerce in a commercial finance projects based role.
About the role:
- Direct report to the Chief Financial Officer/Company Secretary, based in Welshpool, WA.
- Assist with the identification and development of organic growth initiatives (e.g. new businesses, service offerings), potential acquisitions and business improvement initiatives.
- Prepare financial models to support decision making by the Executive team and the Board.
- Assist with forecasting and budgeting.
- Undertake ad hoc research and analysis compiling results in a systematic and logical manner.
- Develop and deliver enhanced reporting of financial and operational performance to inform and support decision making by business unit leaders and operational managers.
- Work with the finance team to support the implementation of a new ERP system and improvements in systems, processes and procedures.
- Prepare of ad hoc financial and operational analysis as required.
- Assist with project managing the implementation of Railtrain’s strategic plan.
- Undertake commercial review and assessment of customer, supplier and other contractual arrangements.
- Assist with preparing monthly Board meeting deliverables including financial reporting and ad hoc board papers as required.
About you:
- Possess a Commerce and/or Finance based university degree and preferably a post-graduate Commerce and/or Finance qualification (e.g. CA, CPA).
- Have experience in preparing detailed financial models using Microsoft Excel.
- Demonstrate enthusiasm and resourcefulness.
- Possess strong financial and commercial acumen.
- Are confident interacting with others and working as part of a high energy collaborative team.
- Are familiar with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Possess strong motivational, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrate a high level of both written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience working with one or more businesses providing contract construction and maintenance services to customers would be advantageous but not essential.
