Kelly Services is seeking a Financial Accountant for one of our Government Client based in Parramatta to work on a 3 months contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing accounting services within the Financial Services unit. Reporting to the Senior Financial Accountant, you will ensure the integrity of general ledger through Balance Sheet reconciliations. You will also play an integral role assisting with the asset accounting, taxation, treasury, financial systems and statutory reporting functions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for maintaining the chart of accounts within the general and projects ledger.
- Preparation of journals, End of Month processing and ledger rollovers.
- Supporting the implementation of financial system upgrades.
- Act as a key member of the Financial Accounting team in finance related projects.
- Reconciliation of Council’s Balance Sheet accounts including Bank Accounts on a monthly basis, identifying issues and implementing agreed corrective actions.
- Assisting with the preparation of monthly financial reports including preliminary variance analysis.
- Ensuring that all payroll related transactions are costed to the correct areas - take ownership of payroll costing controls.
- Creating monthly provisions for Employee Leave Entitlements and other Balance Sheet accounts in line with agreed policies and procedures.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
- Tertiary qualification in accounting (CPA or CA)
- Experience in a similar sized accounting environment.
- Balance Sheet reconciliations and preparation of monthly journals.
- Experience in maintaining financial systems including chart of accounts.
- Knowledge of accounting practices and processes.
- Strong and clear written & verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of Tech One financial products.
