About the business

Our client is a State government organisation who is seeking the services of a Transaction Officer for a maternity replacement.

About the role

  • Process Contract Payments including Panel Contracts and respond promptly to internal and external stakeholder queries.
  • Prepare and issue payment certificates by strictly adhering to Security of Payment Act (SOPA) Requirement and receipting of goods and services.
  • Assist in the preparation of purchase order requests and amendments, variation letters, Security Deposits and coordinate Periodic Contractor Performance Reports.
  • Capture and update data in various contract and payment related registers.
  • Assist with end of month accruals and reporting. 
  • Utilize Procurement Systems and SAP to support administration of the contracts and compliance with GIPA requirement.
  • Maintain expertise in financial and contract management systems and provide systems administration and support to the Unit to ensure efficient and effective implementation and use of the systems. Assist in the development of a customer focus within the Section by working closely with the team in day-to-day activities.

Skills and experience

  • Proven depth of experience working in a high volume environment assessing payment claims and preparing purchase orders
  • Demonstrate understanding and application of Security of Payment Act (SOPA) and Government Information Public Act (GIPA)
  • Demonstrate ability to effectively communicate and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with payment procedures.
  • Proven experience in delivering excellent customer service including the efficient and accurate information provision to both internal and external clients
  • Demonstrate excellent numeracy and analytical skills with a high level of accuracy
  • Demonstrate proficiency in computing skills, including the use of Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, and Access as well as other RMS systems and programs. Demonstrate ability to work independently whilst being proactive, set priorities, and meet deadlines with accuracy, confidentiality and reliability
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment and contribute positively to team success
