Data Analyst, Principal Finance – Corporate Asset Finance  

Join our Principal Finance team acting as an advisor, providing data insights and analysis to the business on deal returns and business results & liaising with a wide range of stakeholders from front office deal teams to the COO.   

As an Executive, you will join the Principal Finance team that supports the Corporate Asset Finance business. In this role you will pro-actively partner and advise the Principal Finance business to provide insights and analysis to help drive business performance. You will have experience with data architecture, report development and data visualisation tools in order to plug large sets of data together and provide analysis and insights to the business. 

Principal Finance is the financing and investing arm of Macquarie, we provide flexible primary financing solutions and engage in secondary market investing across the capital structure. It is a global business with offices in New York, London, Chicago and Sydney.

You will build and maintain strong relationships across Principal Finance and key stakeholders including the operations team, front office and finance including financial control teams in Sydney and India. Preparing monthly reports to the COO and regional business heads, preparing half year and yearly reporting and reviewing and challenging the financial results for Principal Finance are all business as usual daily responsibilities. Reporting on deal profitability and returns will also be a key element within this role. Process improvement and providing decision support and partnering advice to deal teams on an ad-hoc basis will be a way to go above and beyond showcasing your knowledge and skills and potentially impacting business decisions.

You are confident and driven to step up in your level of responsibility, as well as curious to ask questions and be innovative to deliver positive outcomes for the business. You will also have a strong interest in the Australian Banking sector and have a desire to build a career in financial management. Your tenacious attitude, curiosity, attention to detail and ability to communicate with a broad range of stakeholders will be the key to your success in this role.

Your technical skills and qualifications will include a tertiary degree in Finance, Accounting, Sciences, Maths or similar, outstanding communication skills and strong relationship management skills, coupled with a proven ability to partner with the business in a past role. Your experience providing analysis on large sets of data and use of data visualisation tools will assist with putting together reports for the business. A well-developed attention to detail with capacity to appreciate the “big picture” as well as working in an analytical role in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities over time will be imperative. Additionally, Apptio, TM1 and/or PowerBI skills will be advantageous.
