ABOUT THE ROLE:

Blacklocks is seeking the services of an experienced Automotive Financial Controller to join our busy multi-franchised dealership in Albury / Wodonga.

As a business that has been operating in the local Albury / Wodonga region for over 100 years, Blacklocks takes pride in employing more than 130+ locals and promoting a strong culture of success, trust and honesty.

This role provides a unique opportunity for an experienced and dedicated finance professional to join our team, and manage all elements of the financial operations of our business.  

This role requires a fully-qualified Accountant CA / CPA (or working towards), who will report directly to the businesses Dealer Principal, with an additional line of reporting through to our corporate head office in Brisbane.

As the Financial Controller you will also directly manage a team of dedicated administration staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Hiring, training, supervision and mentoring of all administration staff.
  • Actively participate in monthly management team meetings.
  • Formulate sound financial policies, processes and procedures.
  • Preparation of monthly financial statements in line with the group’s policies, procedures and deadlines.
  • Preparation of financial reports for the management team including in-depth analysis into areas requiring improvement.
  • Management of the businesses taxation requirements including but not limited to FBT, GST, PAYG, Payroll Tax and Income Tax.
  • Preparation of annual budgets and monthly targets in line with management team expectations.
  • Monitor the businesses daily operations and create / implement action plans to address areas of concern and budget variances.
  • Constant review of the dealerships expenses to ensure their correct allocation, compliance and conformity with group policies.
  • Management of the dealerships weekly payroll to ensure the appropriate disbursement of funds, and compliance at all times with all relevant state acts and industry awards.
  • Ensure that all creditors are paid on time, and that all debtors are collected promptly within terms in order to maintain the businesses operational cash flow.
  • Management of the businesses assets ledger and capital expenditure projects.
  • Management of the businesses IT infrastructure in conjunction with our nominated external support partners.
  • Management of the businesses insurance policies and claims.
  • Maintain a sound knowledge of all the dealerships departments, and provide strategies to deliver improvements across the business.
  • Assist in the hiring of dealership staff and preparation of employee contracts.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Be tertiary qualified in a relevant discipline and be CA/CPA qualified (or working towards).
  • Have proven industry experience performing either financial or management accounting and overseeing a team.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership and management in a comparable dealership / business environment.
  • Possess strong inter-personal skills, a positive attitude, and the capacity to prioritise and handle a varied workload without fuss, and to a high standard.
  • High level of computer literacy with experience in a range of Microsoft Office programs with an emphasis on excel.
  • Experience with the Pentana Dealer Management System (preferable).
  • Able to work autonomously or as part of a team to deliver high level results.
