About the position:

This position is offered as full or part time (4 days per week, 9 day fortnight or 5 shorter days eg. 10 am to 5 pm).

The Accounts Payable / Bookkeeper role provides accounting support to the CFO in focusing on the financial interests of the Homewares Group, based at Head Office in South Melbourne (close to transport).

Reporting to the CFO the role will form part of a Finance team of 4 people. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of internal management reports (P&L and Balance Sheet).
  • Maintenance of the general ledger, including cost allocations and reconciliations for monthly reporting.
  • Financial administration including:
    • Coding of invoices and allocation to GL accounts
    • Arranging payment of non-stock AP.
    • Reconciliation of AP / AR
    • Assisting with bank reconciliations
    • End of month compliance & BAS lodgement
    • Ensuring capital purchases are recorded/depreciated according to the Fixed Assets Register.
    • Maintain the cashflow report to assist in managing payment priorities.
    • Assist with the allocation of work amongst other team members.

About you:

In order to be successful in obtaining this role you will require the following skills and experience:

  • Accounts Payable experience in high volume environment.
  • Degree qualified in accounting is advantageous but if you have relevant bookkeeping experience not essential.
  • Financial acumen with bookkeeping experience related to profit and loss.
  • A solid working knowledge of the Office suite of products (Word, Excel, Outlook). Other software specific training is provided.
  • Strong accuracy and detail in performing work.
  • Well developed written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Personable, enthusiastic, flexible and confident.
