The Infrastructure Division is currently seeking a Project Accountant to join our team. The first project will be in Kawana on the Sunshine Coast. At the completion of this project you will still be employed full-time within the division. Reporting to the Commercial Manager, and the Senior Project Manager while on-site, you will be responsible for providing financial management support and assistance for the execution of project works by compiling and submitting on time and accurate progress claims and cost reports.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Claim preparation, project reporting, reconciliations and reporting on the status of various aspects of the project against budget

  • Analysis and interrogation of project variances, claims and invoices

  • Providing accurate analysis of projects, including budget vs. forecast, improving management information reporting

  • Streamline business processes and procedures to align with best practices and system capabilities

  • Maintaining alignment and integrity between cost reporting/capturing and systems/claim preparation

  • Reporting the project position at each end of month to accurately reflect revenue, cost and profit along with leading other cost control functions

  • Fostering a strong team environment and enhancing a proactive cost awareness within the team

  • Perform audits to ensure the quality of estimating, cost engineering, and planning/scheduling functions and contract compliance and suggests corrective action for any non-conformance or weakness detected

  • Other duties as requested by the Commercial Manager or Senior Project Manager

To be successful in this role you will have extensive project accounting or cost control experience working across major projects within the resource industry. Prior experience in the water industry favourable. Candidates that hold an Accounting or Finance degree will be highly regarded.
