We are looking for a switched on Assistant Accountant to work closely with our Senior Accountant. Your key responsibilities will be preparation and filing of statutory Accounts (BAS, payroll tax etc.), Fortnightly payroll for 60 employees across 3 countries, Accounts Payable, Bank Reconciliations and other Ad-hoc tasks such as booking travel and accommodation for AME staff.

To be successful, you will need to have completed a Bachelors' degree in Accounting in Australia, CPA and at least 1-3 years of accounting experience, exceptional attention to detail and a proven ability to take responsibility and accountability.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Payroll (responsible for the payment of AME's fortnightly payroll across all locations, Journal entry posting of payroll data into the finance system, and maintenance of accurate leave reporting)
  • Process Journals to reconcile to General Ledger
  • Accrual for various expense accounts with assistance from Management Accountant
  • Maintenance and reconciliation of Fixed Assets register
  • Assisting with the monthly variance analysis and forecasting process
  • Review bank reconciliations to ensure data reconciles between General Ledger and Bank
  • Preparation of quarterly Business Activity Statement and corresponding payment to the ATO
  • Preparation of balance sheet reconciliations
  • Data entry
  • Ad-hoc tasks such as booking travel and accommodation for the BD team, expense claims, purchasing office supplies for the Sydney office.

Your qualifications and work experience

  • At least 1-3 years of accounting experience gained in a company with offices located in Australia and overseas
  • A Bachelor degree in Accounting
  • CPA qualified
  • Hong Kong or UK payroll experience would be an advantage
  • Advanced MS Excel and Office experience
  • Exceptional communication skills in English (written and verbal)
  • Well honed organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of tax implications
  • A pragmatic and commercial approach to business
  • CA/CPA qualified or working towards it
  • Australian Permanent Residency or citizen - we will only consider candidates with the permanent right to work in Australia.
