The Position

The role of Compliance Officer-Professional Standards Scheme is a newly created position, reporting to the Compliance Manager, Public Practice Regulatory Oversight.  Key areas of responsibility will focus on establishing and maintaining systems and compliance procedures within CPA Australia and will include:

 

  • assisting management with the administration of the CPA Australia Professional Standards Scheme (the Scheme)
  • providing guidance and support to ensure CPA Australia has an effective compliance framework to support the Professional Standards legislative/ regulatory requirements
  • developing, implementing and evaluating procedures to monitor and report on the Scheme
  • conducting internal business and operational compliance reviews
  • auditing and reporting on the Scheme's process compliance

 

Qualifications and Experience

You will use your strong communication skills and engage with stakeholders across all levels.  This is a challenging role that requires you to be solutions focused and have a willingness to examine ways in which to support the business meet its compliance requirements.  The overarching objective is to ensure CPA Australia’s compliance requirements and standards are being met. 

To succeed in this position you will require at least 3 years’ experience in a compliance role along with knowledge of relevant Professional Standards legislation, APESB codes and other regulatory obligations would be preferred.  Relevant industry experience and  knowledge of accounting, financial services and or insurance will be highly regarded.

Computer skills:

  • Advanced skills in MS Word and MS Excel
  • Proficient research skills
  • Knowledge/ experience with CRM an advantage

Communication skills:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills coupled with excellent research and report-writing skills
  • Ability to foster a cooperative teamwork approach
