Yes, you will have to like people! Contrary to public belief our industry is about giving clients advice and helping them to ensure that their business runs in a positive way. Sometimes clients don't like the news we are giving them (think randomly selected for an ATO audit) and you will need to ensure that your superior customer service and communication skills can get the best outcome for the client. Yes, there will be times where you will have to re-arrange your day to fit a client in at the last minute. Yes, there will be some client work that you don't love – but as a firm we pride ourselves on customer service and it's an integral part of this role.
Yes, you will have to like mentoring staff! This role is all about mentoring junior staff. The firm has a recent graduate and two staff members with 3 years experience who are half way through completing their CA qualifications. Whilst they are self-sufficient they need to be able to have a mentor, a go-to person for assistance.
Yes, included in the salary package is a car park, CBD office, day off in lieu system, steady and busy client base, support staff, and the normal tea, coffee and cakes for birthdays.
