The role

A diverse and dynamic role that requires the management of the full finance function and operations of our group. We are seeking a finance manager that can be both hands-on and commercially minded on a high level.  Reporting directly to the CEO, you will have access and assistance from external resources but will also be required to operate effectively and efficiently in a standalone position.  The role requires someone that can take the whole finance function to the next level in terms of the quality of its reporting, and a person that is IT savvy in order to support the business during a major change in the entire IT systems as well as the company’s online sales set up.

In this position, you will have the opportunity to be a significant influence in running the business, by providing strategic commercial guidance and identify opportunities for growth and improve efficiency in every aspect.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Assisting management with budgets and general cash-flow management for the business as well as assisting the CEO in developing and reporting KPI’s within the business.
  • Reconciling and processing accounts payables on a timely basis in liaison with group buyers and stock controllers to ensure accuracy of major supplier statements and creditors prior to payments.
  • Ensure appropriate financial, accounting and auditing policies and procedures are developed, maintained, approved and disclosed
  • Preparation and lodgement of Monthly BAS/IAS and payroll tax.
  • Management of the payroll function
  • Provide an efficient administration function to the organisation including fleet, property, purchasing, and Library, Reception, Security and Records Management services
  • Work closely with the CEO in assessing financial impact of commercial decisions and the required accounting changes
  • Evaluation and implementing finance policies across the group
  • Managing and driving improvements in transactional finance function across payables, banking and expense management 
  • Working closely with IT management team and suggest system improvements for better operations between finance, stock control, retail & online sales and distribution.
  •  Lead and work closely with the IT team to provide robust project financial profiles, forecasts and insights that support the CEO in decision making.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with senior stakeholders across relevant business units

 

Key requirements

  • CA/CPA qualified finance manager with extensive commercial and financial management skills
  • Relevant industry experience - preferably within retail, pharmaceuticals, online sales and distributions
  • Commercial experience and hands on exposure to accounting standards change and adoption.
  • Outstanding communication & Stakeholder management experience across all levels
  • Ability to liaise with key stakeholders to drive system change and improvements, including the ability to lead teams and manage tasks
  • Manage planning, reporting and analysis cycles; provide the CEO timely, accurate and suitable information and building strong relationships with employees and suppliers
  •  Advanced computer literacy – Strong Excel & MYOB skills, including knowledge of file linking disciplines.
  • Advanced IT Background and ability to participate in the implementation and improvement of new IT operational systems across the group.
  • Excellent proficiency in translating and analysing data
  • Self-motivated and able to work unsupervised and on own initiative
  • Continuous improvement approach around processes, systems and capabilities to improve both efficiency and effectiveness
