The Australasian College of Dermatologists (ACD) is the peak national professional body for training specialist dermatologists in Australia. The ACD is accredited as the sole recognised provider of specialist training in dermatology in Australia by the AMC and is the leading educational and scientific authority on skin disease in Australia. Its educational functions encompass post-graduate training and Continuing Professional Development for dermatologists, as well as training for general practitioners and other health professionals.

The ACD is seeking a part time Assistant Accountant to provide primary support to the Finance Manager for preparing and reporting company and group financial results.

Reporting to and assisting the Finance Manager your responsibilities will include, however not limited by:

  • Accounts Receivable processing
  • Investment portfolio processing
  • Maintenance of asset register
  • Preparing & posting month end journals
  • Reconciling Balance Sheet accounts
  • Month end reporting
  • Review P&L variances prior to review with Finance Manager
  • Providing assistance with quarterly board reporting
  • Ensuring internal controls are met
  • Continuous improvement of financial controls, processes, procedures, reporting and systems
  • Assisting with Payroll Tax, PAYG, BAS/GST returns
  • Assisting Finance Manager with external audits
  • Provide backup support for Accounts Payable when required
  • Addressing any finance queries
  • Other Ad Hoc projects / tasks as directed

Essential Criteria

  • Minimum 4 years experience as a professional accountant (post qualification)
  • Understanding/working knowledge of AASB standards, ACNC requirements and audit processes
  • Working knowledge of BAS, PAYG and Payroll Tax requirements
  • Demonstrated experience in utilising internet banking facilities for processing and bank reconciliations
  • Advance skills in MS Excel
  • Experience in small to medium size ERP systems such as MYOB EXO, or demonstrated ability to learn such systems
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent organisational skills, ability to multi-task and prioritise
  • Willingness to be hands-on for data entry
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Eligible to work in Australia with no restrictions
  • Degree or similar qualification obtained from an Australian Institution
  • Full membership of a professional accounting body preferred
  • Advance MS Excel Training desirable
