Our client, a well established and well performing business based in the CBD is looking for an experienced Payroll Officer with HR responsibilities to join their team. Working in fabulous offices close to many transport links.
The role encompasses many aspects. The main responsibility of this position is to manage all areas of groups payroll reporting, and to deliver periodic financial and management reporting to internal stakeholders and auditors.
The secondary responsibility of this position is to supporting the HR functions of the business in an administrative capacity
Responsibilities:
- End to end processing of the various payroll runs, including casuals (timesheet), Award payrolls (fortnightly, combination of FT, PT and Award) and salaried FT and PT non-award employees (Monthly)
- Monthly Profit or Loss variance analysis (v. Budget and Cost vs Volume analysis)
- Assist with interpreting awards and contracts.
- Tracking of approved award structures
- Support payroll reporting to meet internal and statutory obligations.
- Payroll administration - New employee set up, Terminations, Salary changes and responding to management and employee queries
- Calculation and processing of off cycle and termination payments.
- Superannuation and other employee related payment calculations and payments
- Processing increases and calculation of back pays.
- Assisting Group Accounting Manager with the preparation, reconciliation and payment of payroll taxes and PAYG.
- Reconciling payroll related GL balance sheet accounts
- Identification and implementation of improvements to payroll procedures and controls across all business locations.
- Ad-hoc project work in relation to the payroll and HR systems.
- Assist with advising management on conditions of employment, company employment policies and award provisions.

- Experience within a commercial organisation in a payroll function position.
- Track record of involvement in making improvements to payroll controls and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to build effective working internal and external stakeholder relationships.
- Working knowledge of National Employment Standards.
- Relevant education and qualifications for this role
