THE COMPANY

International Construction/Engineering business with headquarters in Melbourne.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Reporting to the Payroll Manager, and working in a team of three, the Payroll Officer (part-time) will assume responsibility for a small, but complex, payroll of weekly and fortnightly paid employees including:

  • Ensuring the operational aspects of payroll processing and associated activities, including salary disbursement, overpayment recovery, leave management and reporting are accurate and delivered within appropriate timeframes and comply with relevant legislation,
  • Prepare payroll and human resource information for data input and assist with checking, quality control and maintenance of records
  • Assist the organisation to meet its taxation, superannuation and other legislative and statutory obligations through processing and preparation of returns, related reports, forms and other documentation as requested.
  • Provide a responsive, accurate client advisory service on payroll matters, resolve difficult enquiries and assist in identifying payroll errors and implementing corrective action where required

POSITIVES

The role is being offered on a part-time basis which may suit a Payroll Professional specifically seeking to work close to home in the inner eastern suburbs. Flexibility around working patterns is on offer - the ability to manage your life around work.

CHALLENGES

The payroll, whilst not high volume, is challenging in terms of frequency and complexity (including EBA’s). Due to the nature of the industry sector (project based), employee numbers fluctuate necessitating all hands on deck when it comes to new starts/terminations.

IDEAL APPLICANTS

You will have a solid experience with Australian payroll and all the legislative/statutory requirements.  You will have in-depth knowledge of complexity (including EBA’s). Attention to detail/accuracy is mandatory and your customer service skills will be first class. Applicants with a solid grasp of MS Excel are especially encouraged to apply (as the role has strong links to Finance and they like Pivot Tables and Lookups)!
