Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the Management Accountant will be responsible for supporting the provision of hands on commercial and financial support to the business. Your key accountabilities will include but not be limited to:
- Provide timely, accurate and relevant analysis and commentary on monthly operating and capital expenditure (including investigating variances against budgets and forecasts)
- Preparation of monthly operating, capital and ad-hoc management reporting.
- Partnering with Project Managers to:
- Assist with the preparation and evaluation of business cases for new initiatives
- Update monthly forecasted project expenditure split by operating and capital
- Review of project expenditure to ensure compliance with Unitywater capitalisation policies
- Assist with an upgrade of our ERP system (Technology One) including a Chart of Accounts redesign.
- Continuous process and system improvements for financial reporting
Key qualities for success:
- CA or CPA accreditation, or studying towards
- Demonstrated time management, attention to detail, interpersonal and negotiation skills
- Sound understanding of capital and operating expenditure criteria in a project environment
- Strong analytical, problems solving and numerical skills with the ability to compile, analyse and interpret data, prepare reports and make recommendations
- Proficiency in use of data warehouses and advanced Excel skills
- Experience in project implementation, including requirements documentation and UAT
